EARL TEMPLE'S FANCY. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Earl Temple, at the time of the Thompson's publication (1788) was George Nugent-Temple-Grenville (1753-1813) 1st Marquess of Buckingham, who inherited from his uncle, The 2nd Earl Temple. The family estate was Stowe House, a large and spectacular mansion in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England.
