EARL OF EGLINTOUN [2]. AKA - "The Earl of Eglinton." Scottish, Reel. B-Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Surenne): AAB (Gow): AA'BB' (Skye). Composed for the 12th Earl of Eglinton, Hugh Montgomerie (1739-1819), to whom the Gow's dedicated their Fourth Collection (1800). Montgomerie was an amateur cellist and composer, in addition to his other endeavors. See also Nathaniel Gow's "Nathaniel Gow's Lament for (Hugh) Earl of Eglintoun."
