EDIE SAMMON'S TUNE. English, Dance Tune. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. One of the tunes used for the Abbots Bromley (Stafforshire) horn dance, c. 1890. "This tune comes to us via Edie Sammons, the sister of Tom Sammons, who played for the horn dancers in the early 1900's. A slight variation of this tune was used in the town's celebration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubillee in 1887. It was frequently used with 'Yankee Doodle,' Sammon's tune forming the 'A' music, 'Yankee Doodle' the 'B' music" (Bullen).
