ELBOW SWING REEL. American, Reel or Breakdown. USA, North Dakota. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This tune, named for a dance movement, was copied from a notebook of North Dakota fiddler Elvy Osborne, and was dated 1939. Born in 1882 in Illinois, Osborne later tried homesteading but when this failed he fell back on barbering in Minot, North Dakota. He fiddled in between haircuts in his barber shop where he hosted impromptu jam sessions.
