EPSOM NEW WELLS [2]. English, Country Dance Tune (3/2 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in all four editions of The Second Volume of the Dancing Master (1718-1728), published in London by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns. It also appears in Walsh and Randall's The New Country Dancing Master, Second Book (1710). The tune and dance probably refers to the Assembly Room and shops opened by apothecary John Livingstone near the site of a second well west of Epsom.
