ESMERALDA. USA (Western/Pacific). 6/8 time. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBA. The Esmeralda was a ballroom dance popular in America in the second half of the 19th century. It was a combination of steps from the polka and the galop. Many different tunes were used for this dance; most were in 2/4 but a few were in 6/8.

This tune comes from a music manuscript created by Joseph E. Sedlak, originally from Bohemia, who was a musician, music instructor, and dance band leader in Portland, Oregon in the 1860's and 1870's.
