EVENING STAR WALTZ (3) A.K.A. Abendsterne Walzer. U.S., waltz (3/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBC. Written by Viennese composer Joseph Lanner (1801-1842) and first published in 1841. The first part of Evening Star Waltz (1) is the same as this tune. The notated version is from the Peter Beemer manuscript, created in the gold mining camp of Warren's Diggins, Idaho in the 1860's. Lanner's original waltz suite has 12 parts; the version in the Musicians Omnibus has 7 parts (and is in the key of G); and various American piano editions have 3 to 5 parts. The various second parts of "Evening Star Waltz (1)" may be distanced versions of other parts in the "Omnibus" version of Evening Star Waltz (3).

"Evening Waltz [3]" was also entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Bellport, Long Island, ship-builder and musician Isaac Homan (Book 2, p. 26).
