FAREWELL TO OLD DECENCY. AKA and see "For the Sake of Old Decency." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Black): AABB' (Harker/Rafferty). The first part is the same as that of "Maid of Feakle (The)," though the 'B' parts differ. According to his son Sean, the tune was played by his father, flute player Eddie Moloney, and fiddler Tommy Coen, both of east Galway [liner notes to Kevin & Sean Moloney's "Bringing the Gap"].

Source for notated version: a recording of Paddy O'Brien and James Kelly--O'Brien had the tune from accordion player Rita Keane (Caherlistrane, Co. Galway), the mother of singer Dolores Keane [Black]; New Jersey flute player Mike Rafferty, born in Ballinakill, Co. Galway, in 1926 [Harker].
