FAREWELL TO RYAN'S FANCY. Canadian. Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by the late Cape Breton fiddler and composer Jerry Holland (1955-2009) at the request of musician Denis Ryan (see also "Tipperary Reel"). Ryan and Holland played together at the University of Limerick in 1997, as part of a concert commemorating the 800th anniversary of the charter of the city of Limerick [Cranford]. Ryan's Fancy was a band composed of three Irish immigrant expatriates to New Brunswick, Canada, who were successful enough to garner a few television series for the CBC. At one time accordion virtuoso James Keane was a member. They disbanded in 1983.
