"Fat Molasses" was fiddler Erskine Morris's name for the tune that is elsewhere known as "Brandy de Kedgwick (2) (Le)." Morris (1913-1997) was from the mixed anglophone-francophone community of Douglastown on the tip of the Gaspé peninsula, and had a rich and varied repertory that came from a variety of sources. "Fat Molasses" is also related to "Casse Reel (Le)."
