FLAGS OF DUBLIN [1], THE. AKA and see "Lass of Ballintrae (2)" "League and Slasher (2)," "Market House (The)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Mulvihill): AABB (Black). A favorite tune in uilleann piping tradition. The tune was recorded by Séamus Ennis (1919-1982), who had the tune from his father, James Ennis (1887-1964). The reel can be found in a music manuscript collection from County Cork under the title "Hand me down the tea tackling," and a version was known to Belfast uilleann piper Richard L. O'Mealy (1873-1947) as "League and Slasher (2)" (printed in the Journal of the Irish Folk Song Society, vol. vii, London, 1909, p. 33). A part of the tune appears in O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland under the title "Miller's Maid (3)," although with a different turn. See also the related Scottish tune "Lass of Ballintrae (2)."
