FRIAR'S FAREWELL TO THE REEK, THE. Irish, Slow Air (4/4 time). D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "This friar was one of those belonging to Murrisk Abbey, which stands (now in ruins) on the seashore at the base of 'The Reek,' i.e. Croagh Patrick Mt. in Mayo. The setting from which I copied was very incorrect, obviously played or taken down wrong: and the version given here is my attempt at restoration" (Joyce).
