FRIBLE. English, Country Dance Tune (9/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A 'fribble" is a frivolous person, thing, or idea; as a verb, 'to fribble' is to trifle or fool away (first used in 1633). As with all the tunes from Thomas Davis's 1748 collection, "Frible" was reprinted by John Johnson in his Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 5 (1750), attributed to Davis.
