FROG IN THE MILLPOND . American, Reel (cut time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Frog on the Millpond " was in the repertoire of fiddler T.C. Foster (Laurens, South Carolina), a piedmont short-bow style fiddler and one of the few older fiddler from that state to have been recorded in the field. Mr. Foster died in 2009. While the tune is different, the reel may have once had words, perhaps akin to those Bayard collected in southwestern Pennsylvania in the 1930's (for which see "Fare You Well My Susan/Frog in the Millpond (1)."
