GLOVER'S STONE. English, Country Dance Tune (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Glover's Stone, Chester, has a rather obscure history. A superficial explanation is that the smooth stone was used in glove making by craftsmen in the trade for which Chester was famous. However, it has been determined that no such stones were used in the manufacture of gloves. See a much more detailed discussion of the term at Chesterwiki[1]
