GOLDEN BOY. Canadian, Two-Step. Composed by Manitoba fiddler Andy deJarlis (1914-1975), a Métis fiddler who composed some 200 melodies. Peter Yaransky says this tune "was a favorite of Elise Nichols who used to play for Boston-area dances." The melody has gained currency among New Hampshire fiddlers through its use for square dances (such as Rod's Right and Left, says Yaransky) and in jam sessions, and New Hampshire variant has emerged.
