GREEN HAYSTINGS. AKA - "Green Hastings." English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/8 time). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune appears in the 3rd and 4th editions of London publisher John Young's Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1] (1718 & 1728). It also appears in Walsh & Hare's The Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1719, p. 224).

The title may have to do with the town of Hastings, Sussex.
