GRIM DONALD'S SWEETHEART (Leannan Dhòmhnuill Gruamaich). Scottish. A favorite pipe pibroch in the late 18th century. Emmerson (1972) reports that in 1785, at the Exhibition of Martial Music held in Dunn's Assembly Rooms, that twenty-four pipers played the tune (along with "Failte a' Phrionsai" and "Glass Mheur;" all long-standing favorites). The melody appears in MacPhee's Collection.
