HAY TIME'S COMING. English, Air and Triple Hornpipe (3/4 time). England, Northumberland. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The time signature in Vickers original MS. was 12/8, although the notation itself was in 3/4 time. The tune was also included by Northumbrian musician John Bell (1783-1864) in his c. 1812 music manuscript collection [1], with the following lyric:

Lasses get your rakes ready,
Hay times coming;
Lasses get your rakes ready,
Hay times coming.

Chorus:
Hay time's coming, corn time's coming,
Hay time's coming, corn time's coming.

Lasses get your huicks ready, .... 'huick' = sickle
Corn time's coming;
Lasses get your huicks ready,
Corn time's coming.

Chorus
