HAYDN'S STRATHSPEY. AKA and see "Doctor Haydn." Scottish; Strathspey (whole time). Music publisher Neil Stewart issued the tune on a single sheet around the year 1800, with the note "Corrected by Nathaniel Gow" with no composer attribution. The tune could be one of Haydn's lost country dances, or, probably, was composed by an unknown person in honor of the German composer. Nathaniel Gow's Fifth Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, &c. (1809, pp. 26-27) the strathspey was printed under the title "Doctor Haydn/Dr. Haydn's Strathspey" and attributed to Duncan MacIntyre.
