HEART OF EMANIA, THE. AKA and see "Cremonia," "Crom Castle." Irish, Air (3/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "The Heart of Emania" was published in Mulholland's Ancient Irish Airs (1810). It later appeared as "Crom Castle" in Smollet Holden's Collection of Favorite Irish Airs (London, c. 1841). However, the melody was earlier published as "Cremonia" in 1724 by the Neals in Dublin. "Cremonia" has been attributed to the harper Turlough Carolan by collector George Petrie, but his is the only source to do so; it may or may not be a work of the bard's.
