HIGHLAND LASS. AKA - "Devonshire Girl." English, Triple Hornpipe (3/2 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody appears in all four editions of London publisher John Young's Second Volume of the Dancing Master (1710-1728), although in the editions of 1719 and 1728 it carried the alternate title of "The Devonshire Girl" (or "Devonshier Gairl" and "Divonshire Gairl" in the original publications). "Highland Lass" also appears in Walsh & Hare's Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (editions of 1719, 1735 and 1749).
