HIGHLAND LILT. Scottish, Country Dance (whole time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The generically-titled melody was published by John & William Neal in A Choice Collection of Country Dances (Dublin, c. 1726). A 'lilt' signifies vocal music, often without words, used to accompany lively dancing.
