Honeyman (1845-1919), a Scottish writer, composer and fiddler/violinist, contemporary of wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner, who wrote numerous histories and tutorials, including The Violin: How to Master It, Strathspey Players Past and Present, and The Young Violinist's Tutor and Duet Book, among others. It was his opinion the Scottish music ‘defies all rule’, as it breaks the rules of conventional harmony in its somewhat quirky construction.
