HONORABLE MARGARET ERSKINE'S REEL, THE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Borders fiddler-composer John Pringle (c. 1770-c. 1807). Pringle's tune probably honors Margaret Erskine (1772-1848), Marchioness of Ailsa, Dowager of Dun, the second and youngest daughter of John Erskine of Dun, Forfarshire. She married, in 1794, Archibald Kennedy, 1st Marquess of Ailsa.
