HUMORS OF TRIM, THE (Sugra at-Truim). AKA and see "Beattie's Frolics," "Rolling Wave (2)." Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is usually known nowadays as "Rolling Wave(s)." O'Neill printed the tune as "Humors of Trim" in his Music of Ireland (1903, No. 949), but used the title "Beattie's Frolics" in his Dance Music of Ireland (1907, No. 174). Paul de Grae points out the tune is a near duplicate of an untitled jig in collector George Petrie's [1] (1790-1866) collection (Stanford/Petrie, No. 155), and cognate with two other tunes in the same collection (No. 259, No. 939).
