The melody appears in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper, Canon James Goodman (vol. 2, p. 134), who obtained it from the music manuscript collection of an old contemporary collector and lawyer, John Edward Pigot (1822–1871), p. 475a.
