JACKSON'S WIFE ON THE ROAD. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A two-strain version of "Cossey's Jig," the scion of a large family of tunes that features two-to-four strains in various combinations. See note for "Annotation:Cossey's Jig" for more on the tune family.
Brendan Breathnach found "Jackson's Wife on the Road" in manuscripts from Counties Galway and Westmeath, and Conor Ward finds it in the Meagher music manuscript collection of c. 1900 (Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford).
