JINNY PUT THE KETTLE ON [2]. AKA - "Jenny Put the Kettle On (5)." American, Minstrel Air (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The song "Jenny, put de Kittle on" appears in the playbill of a performance of the Ethiopian Serenanders, featuring Master Juba [1], who performed at Vauxhall Gardens in the season of (1848-49); the piece was identifed as a "New Chaunt" on the playbill.

The tune was entered into the music manuscript collection of Bellport, Long Island, ship's captain and fiddler, Isaac Homan, along with numerous other minstrel pieces as well as cotillion sets and misc. dance tunes. It may be that Homan and his friends put on minstrel performances themselves.
