From the village of Bampton, Oxfordshire, England. The leader and fiddler for the Bampton Morris Men, William "Jinky" Wells (1868–1953), played the tune and was recorded on an old cylinder disc machine. The recording (AFC 1972/001, Disc Side 249 01:07) is in the James Madison Carpenter Collection of the University of Sheffield.
