Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fiddler John Walsh is from the townland of Doire Ghealbhan (Derrygallen/Derrygalun), near Kanturk, County Cork, and has composed several slides and polkas that have entered tradition, including this one. In 1999 he was described (by Jackie Daly via Paul de Grae) as being in his 60's, and as being a nice, quiet, shy man.
