KILLAVIL JIG [1]. AKA- "Killavel Jig," "Kilavel Jig" AKA and see "Around Killavil," "Planxty Gavin," "Port Shligigh" (Sligo Jig), "Trip to Killavil (The)." Irish, Jig. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Killavil is a parish in the south of County Sligo, the birthplace of the great 20th century Irish fiddler Michael Coleman. The tune is occasionally paired with "Lilting Banshee (The)" after the Castle Céilí Band and others.
