KILLIAN'S DAY. Irish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by fiddler and pianist Josephine Keegan (b. 1935), of Mullaghbawn, south Country Antrim. The village of Mullagh in County Cavan has the strongest claim to this saint's birthplace, who became one of the most famous Irish missionaries of the Dark Ages. He died a martyr in Wurzburg, Germany, in the year 689. There is a holy well in Mullagh that bears his name, and in earlier days a pattern was held in his honor there on his feast day, July 8th.
