KIMBALL HOUSE. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Ga. The tune was recorded in San Antonio Texas by mandolinist Ezra "Ted" Hawkins and guitar player Riley Puckett, both from North Georgia. There was a Kimball House hotel at 30 Pryor Street in downtown Atlanta, the site of temporary studios for the Victor/Bluebird recording company. 1939 is often given as the date for the recording, although 1934 is the date given in Russell & Pinson's definitive Country Music Records: A Discography, 1921-1942 (2004, p. 413).
