LAD OF THE VILLAGE [2], THE. Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune is contained in vol. 2 (p. 154) of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper biography:James Goodman. Goodman manuscripts researchers Hugh and Lisa Shields find the tune cognate with a reel from the manuscripts (p. 26, tune 58) of collector P.W. Joyce (1826-1914) who entered it as "Reel of the Olden Time" from Mr. John Healy.
