LADY AUGUSTA HAY'S MINUET [1]. Scottish, Minuet (3/4 time). Archibald Duff (c. 1770-c. 1840?) was a musician (along with his brother Charles) and dancing master of Montrose and Aberdeen, and is recorded as being a Professor of Music residing at Clayills Cottage, Aberdeen in 1837. His volume A Choice Selection of Minuets, Favourite Airs, Hornpipes, Waltzs &c. Book First (Edinburgh, c. 1812) was dedicated to Lady Mary Ramsay of Balmain. Lady Augusta Hay (1766-1822) was the third daughter of James Hay, 15th Earl of Errol, and Isabella Carr. She married George Boyle, 4th Earl of Glasgow, in 1788 (becoming the Countess of Glasgow) with whom she had six children; her family hame was Callendar House in Falkirk, and she succeeded to the Etal estate, Northumberland, in 1806. Augusta died at the age of 56, in 1822. Afterward, Glasgow re-married to Julia Sinclair, the third daughter of Sir John Sinclair, 1st Baronet, and had another two children.
