LANCASHIRE HORNPIPE [3]. English, Country Dance Tune (cut or 4/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The first two measures of the tune are identical to "Lancashire Hornpipe (5)," but then the two melodies differ. The tune can be found in the 1838 music manuscript copybook of Lake District musician William Irwin. See also "Lancaster Hornpipe (2)" for a potential precursor tune in the triple hornpipe meter (3/2 time).
