LARRY McDONAGH'S REEL. Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Collected by Paddy Ryan from flute player Larry McDonagh (1911-1984) from Ballinafad, County Sligo. Ryan says that McDonagh and his brother Michael Joe (1904-1988), a fiddler, had a large repertoire of tunes and a unique style of playing that preceded the Coleman/Morrison era. A third brother, Paddy, also played the flute but had given up playing by the time Ryan recorded the brothers. All three lived their entire lives in a cottage on the side of the Curlew Mountains, near Ballinafad, south Sligo.
