LEAVING LISMORE (Fàgail Liosmòr). AKA - "Lismore No More." Scottish, Retreat March (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune, a piper's 'retreat march' (a slow march), is often played as an air or a waltz, is also a popular song tune. Set in waltz time it is also called "Valse Écossaise." The island of Lismore (Lios Mòr or 'great garden') is in Loch Linnhe, Argyll, Inner Hebrides, to the west of mainland Scotland and has a population of around 180, many of whom speak Gaelic.
