LITTLE SWALLOW, THE (An Ailleog Beag). AKA and see "I Wish I Was a Little Swallow." Irish, Air (3/4 time, "tenderly"). G Major (O'Neill): B Flat Major (O'Sullivan/Bunting). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB.

Source for notated version: O'Neill obviously obtained the tune from Bunting (1840) as it is note-for-note the same, save for the key transposition. The index to the Irish collector Edward Bunting's 1840 collection states the tune was collected at Ballynascreen, Co. Derry, in 1803.

Printed sources: Bunting (Ancient Music of Ireland), 1840; No. 95, p. 70. O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 139, p. 25. O'Sullivan/Bunting, 1983; No. 95, pp. 139-140.
