LONDON SCOTTISH, THE. Scottish, Pipe March (2/4 time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. One of the some 600 tunes composed by Scots fiddler-composer J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927). The tune perhaps honors the London Scottish Rifle Volunteers, formed in 1859 by an individual group of Scots under the command of Lt. Col. Lord Elcho, later to become The Earl of Wemyss and March.
