LORD BALTIMORE'S RANT. English, Country Dance Tune & Jig. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title perhaps refers to Frederick Calvert [1], 6th Baron Baltimore, 4th Proprietor of Maryland (1731-1771), last in the line of Baron Baltimores. Fredrick was a wastrel who actually never visited Maryland, preferring to overindulge his excesses and scandalous lifestyle. He died, unmourned, leaving no legitimate heir to carry on the line, although he did sire a gaggle of illegitimate children.
