LORD BERNARD'S MARCH. AKA and see "Lord Darlington's March," "Lord Barnett's March," "Lord Barret's March." English, Scottish; March (whole time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. In addition to its first printing in Glasgow publisher James Aird's Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 3 (1788), the melody was printed in Thomas Ball's The Gentleman's Amusement Book 1 (Norfolk, c. 1815). The first strain of the Welsh march "Ymdeithdôn gwyr y Bermo" is a simplified version of the first line of "Lord Bernard's March."
