LORD LOVAT. AKA - "Lord Lovate" Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Very Old" remarks Nathaniel Gow in the Sixth Collection (Edinburgh, 1822). John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Angus Cumming's 1780 collection (p. 5). The melody also appears in the 1840 music manuscript collection of Waverton, Cumbria, musician John Rook.
