MÁIRE O'KEEFFE. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by luthier, fiddler and composer Otis Tomas (Goose Cove, St. Ann's Bay, Cape Breton), in appreciation for the hospitality of fiddler Máire O'Keeffe, who took him and companions Jerry Holland, Paul MacDonald, Tommy Basker and Paul Stewart Cranford, to sessions in Kerry, Clare and Galway during a tour of Ireland and the United Kingdom (Paul Stewart Cranford). O'Keeffe was originally from Tralee, Co. Kerry but now living in Kinvara, Co. Galway. Thomas's reel was popularized by Jerry Holland. See also Paul Stewart Cranford's "Máire's Welcome."
