MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW. Old-Time, Slow Air. USA, Kentucky. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. This melody is the air to a broadside song of the same name, though its origins are rather obscure. The earliest known copy of the lyrics are to be found in a 1913 songbook printed by Richard Burnett of Monticello, Ky. (Guthrie Meade & Mark Wilson).
