MAREEL. Shetland, Air (whole time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Shetland fiddler, collector, composer and teacher Tom Anderson 7/26/73. "Mareel is the phosphorescence that comes off the oars when rowing a boat in the sunset during the autumn in Shetland. This can look like molten gold and inspired the melody during a fishing trip in 1973" (Anderson).
