MARQUIS WELLINGTON. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), the hero of the Peninsular Wars and Waterloo, was raised to the title of 1st Marquess of Wellington in 1812. He subsequently became the Duke of Wellington in May, 1814.
