MARY AND DOROTHY, THE. English, Country Dance Tune (6/4 or 6/8 time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Sharp): AAB (Barnes). The tune dates to 1726 and was printed by London publisher John Young in the Third Volume of the Dancing Master [1], 2nd edition (p. 63). Young was heir to the Playford publishing concerns. The longways dance and tune were printed in the 2nd edition only, and do not appear elsewhere.
