MATE TO THE HOG WALTZ. Old-Time, Reel. USA, Arkansas. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A family tune (a reel, despite the title, which makes more sense as "Mate to the 'Hog Waltz'") from the playing of fiddler and violin maker Violet Hensley (b. 1916, Yellville, Ark.), learned from her father, George Washington "Wash" Brumley (b. 1874). The title stems from the consistent pairing of the tune with "Hog Waltz (The)" (also a reel) in family tradition.
